First…the July Special is only available for this last week, so today, Wednesday 11:30-7:30pm, Friday 9:30-8pm (extended Friday hours because of the Skowhegan Art Walk), and Saturday 9:30-3:30pm. The July Special is a deal on Gift Certificates. Spend $100 on Gift Certificates and receive Gift Certificate(s) valuing $125!!! You may of course divide this amount up amongs as many GC’s as you would like. I like the idea of buying 4 $25 GC’s for friends/family, and keeping the extra $25 GC for yourself 🙂 but you do as you wish. It’s a great chance to get $25 worth of free yarn…and this GC never expires!!!!
Second…This is the last week to donate any knitted goods for Amanda and Luke White, and their baby Taylor. Remember this is the couple who had their beautiful baby early in order for Amanda to undergo a double masectomy due to breast cancer. She is very young, and has unfortunately lost her mother and grandmother to breast cancer earlier. We are accepting knitted gifts for the family as well as monetary donations to help with their medical bills. Read a little more about this in my blog “knitting some love for a new Momma”. We also will be selling items at the Artisan Fair at the Skowhegan Fair, this Saturday, July 27th, and the proceeds from these sales will go in their donation jar. This brings me to my next bit of knit to tell you about…
Third…Happyknits will have a booth at the Artisan Fair this weekend. The Artisan Fair is on the end of the Kneading Conference (6th Annual), held up at the Skowhegan Fairgrounds. The Artisan Fair will be just Saturday, 9-4pm. To find out more about the Kneading Conference/Artisan Fair use this link: www.kneadingconference.com Happyknits store will also be open Saturday for regular business hours.
Fourth…Sharon’s sock class is not full yet, although I have had quite a bit of interest in it. Again, this is one Class, this Saturday, 10-1pm. This class will introduce beginners/intermediate knitters to double pointed needles, as well teach the basics of sock knitting, casting on, following a pattern in the round, working a heel flap, and turning a heel, the foot, and a nice shapely toe, with a kitchener stitch closure. This class will use worsted weight yarn and sz 7 needles. You may bring your own materials, or purchase them at Happyknits for 10% off. Please call or e-mail me at Happyknits or directly to Sharon at Sharonv2@roadrunner.com The fee is $20.
Lastly, I am brainstorming and working on organizing an overnight knitting retreat in October. It would be a Saturday night at Flagstaff Hut: www.mainehuts.org , with a hike in and out, (easy hike, flat, about 1.5-2miles), landing at the hut for dinner (included), on Flagstaff lake, a Yarn Tasting (included), and potential bombing (shhhhh), and then morning knitting, breakfast (included), and heading home at your leisure. There are canoes, and kayaks at the Hut at you disposal, free of charge for your enjoyment. I have not figured out the price yet for this exactly, but am thinking somewhere in the $100 dollar range, give or take a few bucks. If this is something you think you would definitely be interested in, drop me a line. I am open to any suggestions, or ideas about this as well. peacelovehappyknits@gmail.com oh, and FYI, they serve beer and wine at MH&T 🙂
So, I know this is a lot of info in one little blog, but I have been dragging my feet about the computer work and wanted to get it out there. Please call or email with any questions about any of this information. 474-7979 Have a great weekend everyone!!!! Thanks for reading!!!!
